Default front runner question from drag wheel thread

I didn't want to clutter up the "post pics of your drag wheels!" thread, so I thought I'd start another.

How far have YOU driven on 3.5" front runners?

Like many people in this thread, I bought some Prostars for my Camaro. The Camaro isn't daily driven. I'm still hesitant to drive "far" on them.

What I'm looking for is someone to either say, "I drove across the country every month for six years on mine and they were fine"; or, "I was just going to drive 30 miles to the track and the wheels exploded, here are the pictures example.jpg"

Thanks for the help

My buddy took his prostar skinnies to southern MS and back from Nashville...

He's got the same fronts as me I'm pretty sure, 165 80r15 kumhos.

Furthest I've taken mine is just down the highway, I just put them on last week

400 miles every week to work and back. I just have to take it easy on sharp curves.

I drove everywhere on mine but they do not brake, corner, or handle in the rain as well as the stockers.

I put over 9,000 miles on my 15x4" Pro Stars and cheap Kumho 165/80/15 radials last summer alone........... all over the east coast, from Michigan to Florida........... I've used skinnies on all of my "fun" cars since 1983 (yes, I'm old) when I had Centerline autodrags on the front of my Chevrolet Monza.......... never had a problem.

Get a good front end alignment, remember they are only a few inches wide, and use common sense.

in my 94 i DD that thing with skinnies and went everywhere, 300+ mile one way trips etc.....the only thing to look out for is seperation. I dont know if it was the tire (had 2 do it) but they seperated and it felt like it was out of balance. it might have been the weight of the car of the tire itself I dont know. but keep an eye on it. you will know it, it will throw the balance off for sure!

Drive everywhere on mine. A friend of mine works two states away and drives his car from here to there on bogarts every once in a while.

I don't think you need to worry about the ProStar one bit. Even though we do not reccommend that wheel for street use, it is not because of anything to do with the constrction of the wheel. It's just because it handles common street situations like dodo: cornering, chuckholes, braking are all things that must be dealt with differently on 3.5's. the wheel will hold up fine, but the more you drive on the street, the greater your chances of getting into a situation where you will see the shortcomings. Ask these guys above, some of them probably scared themselves a little when starting out.
