Tires to replace Nitto's

Ok, I've had it with the Nitto's I hydroplaned and hit a wall on the interstate 4 months ago and nearly had the same thing happen today.

What would you recommend for a daily driver that will rarely see snow (I live in Nashville, TN) and occassional heavy downfall of rain? Last time I went tire shopping I think the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 were the best all around tire but wondering if that has since changed. Also I need it available in a 275/40/17.

Yeah the F1's are probably your best bet. BF G-Force KD's are also really good but they have poor wet traction.

i have gsd3s and i cant belive how good of wet traction they have its unbeleavable

Another vote for the BF G force T/A KDW's. I used to run 315's Nittos before so i can compare the both. The Nittos are better on the 1/4mile when you heat them up and run lower pressure. Anywhere else the BF's are better especially in the cold weather. They hook the same heated or cold which is very nice on a daily driver. The Nittos cold used to spin until 3rd gear while the BF's hook at 3rd gear.

Man Nitto's and wet traction do suck but if you drive within the limits of the tire you should be fine. I have driven 200 interstate miles in hard rain on bald nittos without a slip, driving within the road conditions/surface texture speed.

On the flip side I once drove my QTP street slicks on lightly rained on new asphalt and anything above 20 mph was like wet ice, even a slight slope in the road profile would send my rear to the low side. Scariest 5 mile trip home ever.
