I'm putting 325 Nittos on my car which is an LT1...I'm also putting a 3200 stall+3.73 gears in, with skinnies up front. I'm also putting in a 100-150 shot very soon. I want to be able to high stall it and just shoot off the line. Some people may say those big of tires are overkill, it just depends on who you talk to. I think you'll be fine.

Also Nitto's or DR's need to be heated up for them to stick, even if they're 315's. Outside air temperature has a lot to do with traction and the Nitto. I doubt a close to stock fbod lights up a pair of dr 315's from an idle if they're warm and its 60+ outside. Rev the motor drop the clutch and get them spinning and yes you can spin them but they'll grip before you can run out of 1st gear and you wont spin in 2nd. I've got 440 rwhp and 315's and I have plenty of traction. Add cold air or wetness and spinning the tires is a lot easier. Its basic really. Tires are rubber. They are stickier when they are warmer than colder. The pavement is the same way and we dont even need to talk about moisture. Rain, dew.. it all plays a factor.
What tire is the tire you had pictured. Didn't look like a Nitto to me, was it a 315?

I priced out ccw's. The only way they would do it would be 10's in front and 12's in back in 18 and at a cost of 3k without delivery.

"I just went from a Nitto 275x40x17 RII to a Nitto 315x30x18 NT01"

How are the NT01 for DD? I've had 4 sets of RII's now but thought about stepping up to the NT01, however they say don't drive them on the highway, you'll quickly wear them out. You're the first person I've seen decide to try them out. Details man! Sorry for the hijack.

12's in the back? Well they wouldn't fit. I have the 19" 10 and 11 (front and back) I can't see why they wouldn't just do the same for the 18's. But yeah, that's my delema, can't secide if i want to go 18's or keep the 19's

So far they're awesome!! The RII's had the same warning I think. These things grip like a gorilla. I take turns faster than I ever dared before. They were pretty damn stable at 120+ last weekend. I was worried about them as well but the rII's in 18x305 were on back order for 12 weeks so it helped make the final decision. I've been in the rain with them and they were real good there as well. I dont have a whole lot of miles on them yet so I dont know how the wear factor is but they are the same compound as the RII and DR so I expect limited use. Maybe no more than 5k? Al I know is they really help me lay down the hp without slipping so I'm pretty happy with them. I'm trying to get to the track for some 1/4 times but weather and scheduling isnt cooperating. They $325 a peice as well

Mine are $201 for the 275/40/17. You sold me man, and you're right, I've been driving the RII's on the highway for 4 years , same tread warning. I don't drive in the rain anymore unless I'm at work and it starts, but I usually check the forecast ahead of time and drive the 06' Corolla if need be.

On A M6\ A4 Stalled Car You Can Still Murder A Set Of 315 Nittos They Are Certainly Not Indestructable I Would Say Their A Minnium For Anyone Who Wants To Race

At Your Power Level You Shoul Get A Dead Hood With Them But Belive Me That Wont Last Forever A Few Mods Down The Road And Thell Spread Like Butter

If You Would Like I Can Take Pics Of The Road After My Launch Belive Me Their A Minium Not Overkill And I Run Mine At 14psi

14 psi on the streets for a dd is retarded if you ask me but to each his own. I like to drive the car not just burn a strip straight down the road and then lose control on the corners. Everyone has their own liking. I know from my experience what tires works best at what power levels for me.
By leaving air out of he tire he is trying to improve his footprint. More surface area of the tire means more traction. But it also has a dramatic effect on the stability of the tire in turns. If your just drag racing then you can get away with that. If your road racing you'll kill yourself that way.

YEA RETARDED I ONLY GOT 15K OUT OF THE TIRES AND THE CAR ONLY DID 1.06++ G'S ON A REGULAR BASIS AND HAD HWY RACES UP IN THE 160'S I THINK THE POINT IS THAT 14 COLD IS REALLY 19 HOT AND THAT IS PLENTY FOR A NITTO.. BUT TRY IT YOURSELF GO AHEAD AND FILL EM TO 10 MILLION PSI AND YOULL BURN THE CENTERS OUT IN 3K MILES NOT TO MENTION THE TRACTION WILL KINDA SUCK

BUT HEY WHAT DO I KNOW

O YEA IF YOU ASK ANYONE THAT SELLS NITTOS AND RACES THELL TELL YOU THE SAME THING I GOT THE ADVICE FROM A LS1TECH SPONCER

24psi is fine for DD and autox, and doesn't burn the centers out. I usuallu get 10K out of a set doing this.

Also In My Expirence 19 Hot Is Plenty Of Pressure For Even Very Agressive Handeling

Yea A Little More Might Help For All Out Auto X Just Like Some Member Have Ran As Low As 10 Psi For The Track But From What Ive Tried 14 Cold\ 19 Hot Seems To Provide A Good Balance Not To Mention Help Reduce The Likeley Hood Of Balding The Centers

My 275's don't hook any better than my crappy street tires. I still cut 1.9 60's
