g-force sport are a pretty low end tire compared to the KD and KDW. i have the KDW's. they are fine for all around driving, and never even as much as chirp when taking highway ramps at high speeds. but if you want to accelerate fast, they are useless. granted i have an m6 car, but if I punch it in first gear, they will light up, no matter what the speed. KDW's are rumored to last about 20k miles, KD's about 15k. i only have about 11-12k on mine, so i can't confirm their life.

I Would Recommend Dunlop Sport Maxx Or Sport 5000 The Sport 5000 Hook Great On Dry Pavement And Perform Well On Wet Pavement The Do Not Hydroplane And Have A 360 Treadwear Rating And Look Good On My Ram Air Better Than The Goodyears And I Am A Goodyear / Michelin Dealer For The Price And The Performance The Dunlop Sport 5000 Is The Way To Go

Dude you got robbed.

Order them from tirerack for 600 + shipping and take them to a tire shop and have them mounted for 50 bucks. They are worth the extra $$ over the BFG Sports. You just spent a ton of cash on your engine, don't cheap out on tires. Thats what's going to keep your *** on the street and not in a ditch.

My 555 Nitto Extreme street tires didn't hook very well on the street. I'm on the Nitto 555 DR's now but I'm going to switch to the Goodyears soon.

Sumitomo HTR Zs cheap tire but very sticky street tire. Many talk down on this tire but I have had very good luck. With 380rwhp, you would be surprised at how well the tires stick, I know people going 1.8s on this tire. Another tire which is good if you have a Just tires near you is the Kelly Evo Z, have seen this all season street tire go 1.6s in the 60'.

Just as a note about Drag radials vs. Street tires.

I have the Nitto 555R tires. I run 22 psi on the street. Unless I launch, they dead hook all the time. But, with only 6k of street driving, the center line is bald, and the outside two lines are on the markers.

For anyone who doesn't think the nitto drags hook up, they're most likely running WAY too much pressure. Right after I got the tires, I talked to about 6 different people at the track who ALL said the Nitto DRs don't hook at all on the street. All of them were running 30 psi or more.

Go Sumitomo HTR ZII's in the front $99 each on tirerack then BFG KD's on the back $240. END OF STORY. This will give you absolutely awesome traction and be somewhat cost effiicient. I guess you'll be surrendering max cornering capabilities having the different tire combos though??

I currently have Goodyear GSD3's and they dont hold a candle to BFG's traction capabilities, def worth the extra $$$

I ran 245 50 16 nittos for 3 years and they hooked on the street very well.

I recently purchased a set of 245 50 16 GS-D3s on all corners and they hook just like the nittos, I'm really impressed with their hooking ability on the street. Actually I wanted to spin the tires more just for fun, but these things keep hooking.

You say they hook up just like the nittos.

What psi did you run in the Nittos on the street? I'm betting it wasn't 20-22 (like you should).

I'm not sure what your getting at. I ran the nittos @ 26 psi so I wouldn't wear the center of the tire out. I have 35 psi in the GS-D3s and they hook remarkably well, I can get them to spin a little bit but not much at all. I power braked it the other day just so I could do a nice burnout. Maybe because they're 16" so they have more sidewall then a 17" tire which helps in launching.

htr zs are a great hooking tire for the street , one of the best i have ever seen. i own a pair right now. when my 99 z had 373 gears and a m6 it would not break the tires loose from a roll in 1st gear .........it was crazy. ihave about 320 rwhp too. i love those tires

Heh, you should only use those low PSI's if your gonna race, otherwise it will cause your center to wear out and the outside's of the tire, like you previously mentioned. What happens is when you dont run the recommended amount of air in a tire, it causes more friction in a certian area. If you put too much air in a tire, it usally will wear the center first, because the center touches more. If you dont put enough in, it will generally wear the sides, because they cause more friction on the edges. Way I look at it, if your gonna be out street racing, drop psi down to 24-26psi and race for a while, soon as your done, air them back up to the recommended psi which on most tires is 34-36psi. Just my thoughts

The BF Goodrich KDW's I have now hook pretty good, but they are new with less than 1,000 miles on them. Great rain tire as well. I can powerbrake it up to 1300rpms and ROLL into the throttle and they'll hook.

I had the Sumitomo HTRZ's, they hooked really well too, but the set I had never stayed balanced.

I am gonna be runnin 9.5's up front and 10.5's in the rear so I just need a good sticky set for the rear. How do those Sumitomo HTR Zs do in rain?

How much pressure in the D3's. I ask because I have used the KDW, KD, and now the GS-D3 and the D3 has way better traction than the KDW and about the same as the KD. If you have 275's you should only have about 32 psi in the tire so the whole contact patch of the tire touches the ground.

For under 400 horses the KD, D3, or even the Mich Pilot Sport should be fine.

How about Michelin Pilot Sport II's? Tire rack rates them better than almost every tire you guys have mentioned. I love mine!

My car has had 315 GS-D3's, 275 Michelin Pilot Sports, and now 315 KD's...
And the 275 Michelins beat the pants off of the Goodyear and BFG tires hands down. I can roll on the KD's in first and get no traction. The Goodyears would hook on a roll but as soon as I hit second they were gone. The Michelins do not break loose unless I want them to. I'm awfully impressed with that little tire.
Not quite a scientific study, but MHO nonetheless.
