What tire pressure on the street/track - on stock tires
Hey I was just wondering What tire pressure you run at the street and the track on stock tires. I have 38lb in the front and 30 in the back. My manuyal says to keep all tires inflated to max psi for High speeds but I want alot of traction, and high speeds.
For the track people have told me to drop them to 20 or lower. What works best for you guys with stock or street tires. And will it help to inflate the front tires to max psi?

max psi is written on the side of the tire. it differs from brand to brand and what the tire was designed to do. No way in hell would myself persoally deflate a radial street tire to >20 psi.

Like was said it depends on the tire but definately do not deflate your rear tires. Radials will cup and actually decrease your traction. On average you can probably keep them around 30 psi in the rear and air the fronts to the max pressure.

Just remember to only keep the fronts like that at the track. Otherwise you'll have all sors of issues on the street.

With those front pressures, if you are not hitting the turns really hard, you will wear out the centers fairly quickly (depending on the compound/treadwear ratings), given stock spec alignment.

If you have the 17 inch stock wheels that seems a bit high. With a lot of trial and error I run my tires at 33 front 31 rear. No it depends on the tire and the sidewall but I wouldn't devitate from that much. 22 psi in a street tire is way too low. Even at the track.
Don't do major burnouts on street tires either. It will glaze them and actually make traction worse.
