Default Removing studs from hub

On the rear.

How are you guys doing it?? I know I have to pull the axle to remove the 2.5" studs and replace them with the 3.25" studs.

I don't see anyway other than maybe a clamp to remove the studs once the axle is removed other than just hitting it with a hammer. Do I just set the end of the axle on the ground and bang away???
Help!!! Planning on taking care of this tomorrow.

u have to use a hammer to hit them out... put a throw away lug nut on there so that u dont ruin the stud. dont stand it straight up on the axle end or u will mushroom the axle end. try finding a piece of wood so u can rest the axle on and hit them out one by one. u can install the studs by either banging them back in(with a brass punch) by putting something in the center and hitting the butt ends of the new studs or get wheel stud install kit....

Okay...so the end of the axle needs to be on a piece of wood??

That is my biggest concern, messing up the end of the axle.

i would suggest trying to keep away from the shaft end of the axle and trying to hit flush aganist stud end of the axle... so use a solid table or something i used and old tall tree bark as a solid point....

I cheated.
Knocked them loose while on the car. Then took the axle off. Best way??? Probably not...but it worked.

What about pulling the studs through on the front. The hub obviously spins when torqued. Anyway to 'lock' it in place??

u have to remove the complete brake assembly... Caliper, caliper bracket, rotor, then dis-connect the ABS connector remove 4- 13mm or 14mm bolts in rear and the whole hub comes out...

For pulling them through, I used some washers and an old lug nut. When you knock them out it helps to soak them with a penetrating oil over night.

My problem is pulling them through the front.
The hub spins freely when you torque them down.

I had no problem getting them removed or getting the rears seated.

put a large screw driver through one of the stud hols and hold it against the a arm or something until you get few in. Then you can stick the screwdriver between 2 studs to hold it.

Yeah.
They pulled through no problem, so I can't see any damage being done.

I got them started without the rotors on, then put everything together (minus wheel) and set the linelock. Went slow and cris-crossed the studs I was seating.
