wheel width...

Why is it that wheel places tell you that the widest wheel/tire you can go up front on my 99Z is 8 1/2? I see much wider all the time....do you have to do something to make the wider fit or what?

well considering that the stock SS/WS6 wheels are 17x9 all around, there shouldnt be any modifications to be done to make them fit..

9" and 9.5" wheels with the right offset fit no problems with a 275/40ZR 17 tire . . .

Run far away from that tire shop!

Seems like your local Billy Bob's "Tires and other Stuff" have no idea what they're talking about. I, and many others on here, run 9.5" wide wheels with a 56mm offset with 275/40/17 tires without even a hint of a problem. You might also mention to them that a SS or WS6 comes stock with 9" wheels with the same size tire. Of course, they seem to be the kind of people that will tell you that a SS Camaro or WS6 are waaaaaaay faster and a totally different car

lol thats funny...all my local tire shops have a bunch of 16 year old boys running around with them damn goggles on there face looking rediculous...STAY AWAY from them!!!
