the new tread pattern is only available in the more commmon import sizes such as the lower profile 15" and 17" as well as all the 18" sizes. the old tread pattern is still used on the more common domestic sizes such as the 315 and 275 for the 17" and the more common sizes used by the drag radial classes. (i.e 275/50r15, 275/60r15, 325/50r15 etc.)

The 325/35/17 BFG is noticeably wider than the same size Nitto 555R... on a mildly lowered car, I'm now doing a bit of rubbing (when cornering at speed) on one inner wheelwell. There's not much room to shift the rear before running out of room on the opposite side, so it's time for the BFH. This is on a 9" rear, by the way; it might be a bit different for stock or 12 bolt setups.
Just be aware that I lost some horizontal clearance.

the 275 m/t is plenty sticky if you cant hook with them you have serious problems and or a lot more hp than i have and i'm pushing 526 thru an auto.
fwiw i ran the 275/40/17 BFG and i liked them. I would not recommend using them as a daily driver tire, mainly because they are a soft rubber compound and will wear out quickly. why waste them on the street?! they drive just like a regular tire. they'll last i would say 2-4k miles depending how many burnouts you do with them. they dont need a long burnout at all to be sticky.
get em you'll be happy with them.
