They fit no problem. I don't have them on myself, but I've had a few friends with 285/40/17 KDW tires on the rears of stock 17X9 wheels without a single problem.

I had 285 GSD3's for awhile. They run very large and bulge just a tad but not enough to be a safety concern. Under hard cornering they rubbed the inner fender a tad, and I had to clearance that are a little. Other than that they worked great. All my pics were lost when my old PC bit the dust.
