Default **Update** I have a problem with a tire or is it the wheel?

A year ago I got the wheels, and tires in my sig. A couple months after they where mounted, one would not hold its air. I had to put air at least once a week on this tire to keep it from going flat. This past saturday I took the tire and wheel back to discount tire to get it check out. They checked it out and said it had a leak around the bead. They applied bead sealer and back on it went. This morning I noticed it was completly flat. Could it be a back tire or a bad wheel causing the air to leak? Good thing they said if the sealer did not work they would replace the tire for free. I need to know what might be the problem so I can hit them up again or AFS Wheels?

They probably nicked the bead when they mounted the tires. Once the tire is off the wheel the damage will be easy to spot.

It's most likely a bead leak. I had this issue when I first had my tires mounted. I just brought it back to America's Tire, and they fixed me right up.

just because the outside of the wheel still looks nice does not mean the inside is still ok. its just an option to look into.

also i find it fishy that they are willing to replace the tire for free only because they were unable to fix it. I would think they might be trying to cover something up.

Whoever mounted the tires cut the bead. They are responsible.

I took the wheel/tire to a local tire shop to see if they knew wtf. Well it turns out the bead of the tire and wheel where never cleaned properly. This was causing the small leak. These local guys cleaned the wheel/ tire bead, mounted them back up and it still has the same psi as the day the cleaned it. What a shame some local hole in the wall fixed the problem and discount tire did not know wtf.

there is usualy always moisture inside a tire and with chrome rims it causes corrosion and the chrome to peal. that could be your problem. or when the tire was always low on air before did you drive around on it much? the inside layer of the tire is like a built in inner tube. and when you drive on it with LOW air it cuase a effect called a run flat where the side wall is being compress from the low air and it will destroy your sidewall you can tell this happened when the tire is off the rim and there is loose rubber inside the tire.

Yeah that what they said it was corrosion around the tire.

You should periodically check your tires innards for corrosion. A must do. Really pisses off used car sellers though.
