I scored a set of 97 Firebird 5 spokes w good tires. My dad needs tires on his 84 vette. I was wondering if they will fit (properly). I'll find out in the spring, but figure the info is avail.
What offset do 84 vettes need? Fitment guides usually say 4th gen f body and 88-96 vette wheels cross over. What is diff about the 84?
Any links w info on the oddball 84 would b appreciated also.
Thanks in advance?
As a side note, anyone know if a vette centercap off say a ZR1 wheel or something will fit the 97 5-spoke 16x8 Firebird wheel?

By the info I can find 84 Vettes came stock with a 9.5" wide wheel that had a 38 mm offset.
So . . . a stock Firebird wheel should have a 8" wide 55 mm offset wheel . . .
They may go on, but they will be tucked in.
88 - 96 Vettes the wheels would be interchangable.

So, 84s had 16x9.5s? I do know it has a 255/50/16. my dad was also told it has different offset front/back. The wheels are marked like 3rd gen IROC and GTAs, as ront or rear. The diff must B minor, as his car has 3 of one or the other (fronts or rears).
Any idea y the 84s differ from the 88-96s? I assume it is because of brake/hub differences. I would assume the control arms and such are the same throughout.
But, we all know what happens when we assume...
