Default Widest DR that can fit on an 8" rim?

I have a line on a pair of 5 spoke wheels (16x8") that have 26x11.5" MT's ET Streets mounted on them.

I always figured the widest you could go on an 8" rim was a 10-10.5" tire..... how would these work? Too wide? Too much tire?

I need these to be able to hook during a decenty lauch as these will be my "economy" wheel/tire combo for the track.

Need info ASAP! Don't want it to be sold from under me!

thanks,

Jorgy

most people say 275's (MT's website shows P255/50R16 26 X 10.50R16 )

I'm running 275/40-17 (P275/40R17 26 X 11.50R17 ) on my stock 8" wide GTO wheels
