i realize that but he does not want 18" drag radials. are there any other options, 10.5 inch is ok as well. in fact i think that just getting another 9.5 wheel would work but he likes the look of the wide wheel.
how wide of a tire can you go with a 9.5 rim.

I'd say a 275 or 285. . . . . but I know for a fact 275s fit perfect onto a 9.5" rim.

Best chance is to have the stock wheel sent to a professional to widen it by cutting the face off and then welding another tub onto it.

I would assume he would send in his 18x10.5 and not his 17x9.5 wheel.

He does still have the stock Z06 wheels right?

Lastly a bit off topic, aftermarket ZR1 clones are crap in quality compared to the lightweight year 2002 Z06 wheels.

You can fit a fairly wide tire onto the stock 10.5 inch width, anything significantly wider than a 305 (which is a very safe mount) and he is going to have to cut off the rear brake-ducts and perhaps even have to install a mini-tub kit.

Invasive and pricey.

The extra half inch isn't worth the heavier lower quality ZR1 clones.
but when you refer to the factory wheels, do you mean just the dark grey ones, or chrome ones included?

The Z06's do not come in a 17x11, however the ZR1's do come in a staggered wheel combo of 17x9.5 on the front and a 17x11 on the back comes in chrome and black. Also TTII's come in a 17x11.
