Default how much do skinnies help??

hey guys... im probably gonna get a pair of drag radials for this summer and mount them on my stock 16's... but i was thinking about getting some skinnies for the front... my question is how much do they help? has anyone raced with them and then with out them to see the difference if its only gonna take like a 10th off then its not worth it.... also do you guys drive the track with you skinnies on... i dont know how i would change them at the track... id have no where to put my other wheels if i did it that way... thanks guys

When I drive around with my Bogarts on, I can definetely feel the difference. Not so much that I'm faster, but I have very little spin and the weight distribution is improved a good bit. I can feel and see the front end lift up (not wheels up) when I hit WOT.

It does take a good bit of weight of the front and helps with weight distribution. I'm not for sure exactly how much those stock 16" steel rims weigh but I know a lot of guys say you can save as much as 40-60lbs. off the front with skinnies and tires as opposed to the stockers.

They help more than you think......probably .1-.2 for a stockish Fbody. Less, the faster you go.

You probably wouldn't want to do that seeing as those tires are rated for low speeds (<55mph, I believe) and they are steel. They probably weigh as much as your stockers.

yes you can run 5/16 spacers up front but you need to get longer studs or you can grind down your calipers which is the safer way to go and really isnt that big of a pain to do. if i didnt break my camera i would post up so pics of what the calipers look like grinded but do a search and you should be able to find pics

just get the acorn ones that are recommended by summit/jegs whoever. they will come with a washer to help tighten the rim down properly. This is key to making sure they are on right. You dont wanna be going 120 and lose a rim...

Skinnies will also leave a narrower trail of water (which your rear tires drive over) after driving thru the water box.

negative. your spare tire is only speed rated to about 55mph. you could probably use it if you got different tires.

A buddy of mine said the gained .5 second by running skinnies. But his car was a full bolt-on with a 3K stall.
