Tire size for 18 x 9.5???!!!!
Alright I did check the stickies and a search told me nothing. My buddy is buying a set of 18 x 9.5" rims for his 1999 T/A. I told him the proper tire size for that rim is 275/35/18. Is this correct because the tire places he's checked with are telling him 245/40/18 is the correct size for the rims he purchased. I am thinking that's way narrow for 9.5 " wide. My concern is the I have 17 x 9.5 Z06 rims and that uses a 275/40/17. I assumed that since his rim is an inch taller with same width you'd run the 275/35/18 on a 9.5" rim. Help me out here because I believe the tire place is giving him bad info...and he has the order on hold for the tires. One more issue....should he need a spacer on the front for anything?? I thought with the right offset he shouldn't need a spacer on a rim that's only 9.5" wide?? I think he's getting the run around!!

I am runnin a 18x9.5 on all four corners on my car....and I also have 275/35/18's on all four of them and have no issues at all. Plus my car is lowered 2.75 inches, no rubbing issues at all.--Tony

That's what I figured!! Thanks Tony!! Did they recommend a 245 instead of the 275 when you bought em?? What the tire place told him doesn't sound right. It sounds like they've been dealing with imports where everything is 18-20" tall but 7" wide. Anyone else have anything???
