On polished wheels I would ONLY use car wash sop and water. Even Simple green is too harsh on bare polished aluminum.
Once dry give a quick polish up with a gentle polish, such as Flitz.

Just remember that when you polish them there's nothing to protect them.
Here's what I do:
Mother's Polish
I then put Zaino Z-5 followed by Z-8(I do two coats of these)
I then finish with some Z-CS to protect it.
Yes it's a lot of work but you won't believe the shine and it lasts SO MUCH longer than just polishing them.

I use Mother's FX wheel cleaner to get the brake dust off in bettween the spokes. I polish usually every two weeks by hand and maybe once a month with a Powerball and Mothers Billet Polish.
