Default What brand of 275/40ZR17 are fairly inexpensive

My car has tires that are worn past the rubber! Never seen tires this bad (fronts)

I need to get something fairly inexpensive to replace, and recommendations?

I've heard both good and bad things about Sumitomo HTR Z tires, but I have no personal experience with them (although they'll be going on my new rims when I get them later this summer). As far as a 275/40-ZR17 goes, it's also easily the cheapest. First site I looked at has them on special for $85 each. Given the price, I wouldn't mind a little hit on performance, but the SS isn't my daily driver.

Maybe someone who has real experience with these tires could comment, I'd be interested too.

If you go with the Sumitomo's, strongly consider the HTRZ II's, they are slightly more than the HTRZ's, but I think a better/quieter high speed summer tire (they seem to handle rain fairly well).

I have the Yokohama AVS ES100. 275/40 in the rears. I have had them for well over a year and they have plenty of tread left. This is somewhat my daily driver. Run you about $125 from tirerack.

Those HTRZ II's are cheap..and reviews sounded pretty good.

Can afford to replace all four in one shot with that price!

NITTO 555s are worth the little extra i think, The Fuzions are good for the first few thousand miles but once they start to ware, they get slick...

I think I've come across the cheapest place to buy tires yet. www.tires-easy.com has some wicked cheap prices. I just ordered a set of 4 HTRZ's for 379 shipped
