The tires on my car are just 225/60r16, and they don't look too hot.
I found an auction on eBay for a set of 4 brand new 245/50/16 Kumho ECSTA AST for $238.
Do you guys think this is a good deal? To me it sounds like a great deal, but I haven't been in the market for new tires in a while.
I recently called up a local shop and they quoted me $584 for a set of 4 Falcon 245/50r16, plus roughly $23 balancing per wheel/tire. They told me the price per tire ($146) includes "installation". I don't know if this is fair, but to me it sounds very ******* pricey.
Thanks!!

i had those tires before. they are nice in dry weather but rain forget it. every set of painted lines they would slip, even under hardly any acceleration. (also those i had on my supra) 200hp.

How can they be that bad in wet weather? Is it something in the rubber compound? I don't get it. Their web site says they are good all season, and in light snow too. How about on a V6 do you think they would be ok?

I had some cheap tires when I first got my car, I mean really cheap Z rated. They would slip when I let off my brakes at a redlight in the rain... and I would slid everywhere, they were godawful man. Unreal. I nearly died every day. Everytime it rained I had to be sure to turn no Gs whatsoever.

When I had my 97 Camaro V6 it had the stock Goodyear all-season GA's and they were a nightmare - slid all over the place in both rain and snow, so don't take the mfg word when they say M+S. Replaced the GA's with a better GY GT-HR in the stock size from Tirerack and I was much happier, especially in rain/snow.

I have been using Kumho tires for a while and have no complaints. I have them on the front of the 'camaro and a set on the truck as well. They are a really good tire for the price.

Ok I think I found a great deal on eBay for a set of 4 ZR rated 245/50/16 tires. Made by Michelin but under the brand name of "Riken Raptor".
A set of 4 for $315 with free shipping!
Can some of you guys take a look at the auction and tell me what you think. I heard these are excellent water handling tires.

For the size that your looking at, you could prob get a nice set of BFGs for about that price. either way. Thats alot of money to spend just to slap on some stock wheels. I'd just buy a nice set of wheels/tires. You can usually find a set relatively cheap. Last summer I sold a set of 17x9.5 black zr1s in mint condition with like new tires for $550. Maybe youc an find a good deal too.
