Default Finally! New Goodyear F1 GS-D3's, now what PSI?

Finally picked up a new set of tires for my car, 275/40R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.

I commute about 50 miles a day, in rainy Florida weather. Any recommendations for pressure to run these? The tire place has them at 40-42 psi right now, seemed a little high to me.

Suggestions? Thanks!

that's what I ran them at too. THe goodyear tire center actually mounted them.

Everyone on here used to tell me that I ran them too high, but I got damn good mileage (and mpg) out of mine. now, mind you if you were going to the drag strip you'd want to lower the pressure to 20-25 but for DD use, I'd say leave them be.

40 is way too high. You may get good mileage out of them, but you'll get even better mileage at the correct pressure for your car. I run 33F/30R on the street.

i use to run my gs-d3's at 36psi @ 70 deg. to try to stiffen up the suspension a bit. It's like increasing the spring rate a bit. This was a crutch to help the driver feel what the car was doing and get better response for a slow suspension.

With the new strano springs and koni's, the car rides and wears great at 32 front 29 rear. This pressure gives a very good compromise for wear and maximum tire contact patch. Wet driving works better with a couple psi more.

These tires wear good in a wide range of pressures due to a very stiff tread block and soft sidewall.

More than 40psi I would imagine should feel pretty harsh.

look at the tire for contact mark, you will be able to see the line from the edges of tire were it contacts the street. for best traction on street should have a line just before the curve of tire. the wider road line on the tread the better contact. however, if you are looking for some gas mileage then patch will be more towards center. strip of course u want wider contact patch for grip. I run 30 psi on rear M/T et street 295/45/17 and 35 psi front 275/40/17 for street.. strip I drop rears to about 18 /20 psi depends how track is that day.....

agreed, put enough air in them so that you get proper wear
