Default question about backspacing and narrowed 9 inch

whats up guys I plan on going with pro stars here for the track and right now im running on the stock 10 bolt, heres my problem/question.

if i narrow the rear end 1.5" each side what backspacing will I need for the pro stars? will it work with the stock rear end now? basically i don't want to have to change up my wheels when i go with the narrowed 9 inch....

looking to running a 27X10.50-15L ET street.

Most run a 7.5" b.s. on a 10" rim for a stock length rearend. You could do a 6" b.s. for the 1.5" you are shortening each side of the rear.

If you run the 6" bs on the stock length rearend figure they are going to stick out about 1-1.5 further than they should which is more than likely going to cause them to rub on the outer fender.

As far as your Z06 wheel are concerned after you shorten the rearend they are going to be pulled in 1-1.5" in which may cause them to rub the inner fender and maybe even your lca. You could always get aftermarket lcas that move them inwards for more tire clearance or run one of those spacers with the built in studs when you are riding around with the Z06 wheels.

I have a 9in that is narrowed an 1in and a half on both sides and am running Pro Stars that have 6 1/2 backspacing with a 27/ 10.5 ET Street. It fits but needs to be 5 1/2 backspacing, they still sit in to far. As far as stock wheels with a narrowed rear end you will need to buy some billet wheel adapters that bolt on to your rear hubs and space it out alot. My opinion is the narrowed rearend is a pain in the ***, I wish I didn't have it!

Im not sure if its worth it of not to you but you can always try fitting a 3rd gen rearedn in your car to see how the wheels will fit before you go and buy a special order rearend. The 3rd gen rears are 4" narrower then the 4th gen ones. It will bolt right in with no problems.
