Question Tire Help

Sorry for this question, I just cant find a def answer in any other link. I have an 01SS and just bought a set of Rep C6 rims. They are 18 x 8.5 and 18 x 9.5 with a 56mm offset. I bought em just becuase the price couldnt be beat but I really have no idea what i got into. First off what size tires should i get for the front and back (probably goin with nitto 555) but i have no idea what demensions to get. Also I dont know if im going to need any kind of spacer. I just want the car to look normal without having to do anything crazy. The stock springs set up with the GM 17" 10 spokes already looks like im riding a dune buggy, now when i get the new rims on is it going to make that worse better or the same. Cause if it gets any worse I'll probably lower it when i do the tires and if I do have to lower it, by how much. Thanks for the help and sorry again for what im sure is a repetitive question.

you might need a spacer but weirdly enough alot of the cars are different....for example i have 17x9.5s on the front and they slightly rub but on my friends...they dont touch at all..

you could go with a 245 and 275 respectively

Also Id probably be lookin to get a slightly wider tire on front and back just to give a little protection to the rims. Could I get away with 275's on the 8.5 and something like 289/295 on the 9.5s also im a bit confused on the sidewalls. Is it the fronts 40 side wall and the rear with 35s?? Thanks

the 275 on the rear will protect it, since its 9.5 i never have scratched mine its, that 245 would be ok on the front to...you want to keep that front size down somewhat

Front's using the 18x8.5 wheel I'd go with a 245-255 tire.

Rears using the 18x9.5 wheel I'd go with a 275-295 tire.

Better watch the aspect ratios. Make sure your tires have about the same overall diameter or it will drive your ABS crazy.

You want to stay around 25.7 to 26.2" in tire diameter. I have a '99 SS, the 275/40R17s are 25.7" in OD. For the front 18x8.5 wheels, I would run P255/40R18s, they are 26.02" in OD according to my Tire & Rim book. For the rear 18x9.5" wheels, I would run P295/35R18s, they are 26.10" in OD. These tire sizes would fill up the wheel wells a bit more than the factory tires.
