Cool Photos: Boyd 18s on my SS

Here is my new wheel/tire combo for the 1970 Chevelle SS.

Boyd Coddington "Junkyard Dog - Old School Gray"
Front: 18x8 with 4.0" backspacing
Rear: 18x10 with 5.5" backspacing
wheels were around ~$1600/set shipped

Tires are custom modified BFG KDW2, with the red lines added on by Diamond Back Classics.
Front: 245/40-18
Rear: 295/35-18
Tires were around ~$1400/set shipped

The wheel centers are not painted, they appear to be glass bead blasted aluminum and are bare. In direct sunlight, the blasted area sparkles pretty cool. It was getting dark, so these are the best pics I could get for now. The car is factory ride height, and I had to roll the rear fender lips to make sure these tires would not rub. I use an Eastwood fender roller on my cars, works great.

showoff! If I had your money, i'd throw mine away! lol

sorry, had to say it.....

otherwise, THAT IT ONE SWEET RIDE! of all the "older" hot rods, the 454 Chevelle SS was always my favorite. Up here in MA, it was cheaper for me to order a loaded Camaro SS then it would of been to try to find one of those and rebuild it.......i can still have my cake and eat it too now.

wheels look unreal on your ride, must stick to the road like glue?

nah, suspension is still 100% stock. So, it handles like a loose tank for now. 454 is stock also, it is sloooow. I'm guessing 15 seconds slow. But, it looks and sounds good

They look great! I hope they ride better than the set of 17's i got a while back. i went through 3 complete sets from discount tires direct before i got one wheel that didnt have a "road force" measurement of over 50 lbs. I finally got fed up and just went with a set of chrome zo6's.

they look really good, but i'm sure the pics don't do them justice. I'm not liking them so much in the pics, cause the look almost white, but i'm sure in person they look amazing.

Those look great; tasteful as always. They give the car that pro-touring look even though it's at the stock height, and the red-lines are a clever touch.

Keep it up, I always enjoy seeing your cars.

Looking good Tony! You have nice taste in wheels as usual. And that red stripe really gives it a nice retro look.
