Default How Do You Measure Wheel Studs?

I have a 99 TA, but I think all the 4th gens use the same studs. I need to know the stock length of them. Also, what is the "shank length"? I've never heard that term before.

I know they are 12mm diameter with a 1.5 thread pitch.

I ned to get some new ones exactly 3/4" longer than stock. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Doubtful you'll be able to find one at the specific length you need. You can mill a 2.68 (or similar designs) to the length you desire.

Shank length could be referring to OAL. Typically you'll see a knurling diameter/length notation as well as underhead.

You are making it way more complicated than need be. Just get some ARP ones and be done with it. I have some new sets lying around here some where.

PM me if you want them.

ARP sells two readily available lengths in that size...2.5" and 3.25". The 2.5" is the stock length (at least in the rear). Get the 3.25"...there is your extra 3/4".

How so? I need some 3/4" longer than stock, but any more and my closed end lug nuts will bottom out, understand? That's why I was being specific, plus I didn't want to jack up the car and take a wheel off just to see what the stock length was. I was thinking I might have to get some long ones and just cut them down to the right size, but if the 3.25" ones from ARP are 3/4" longer than stock, then that's perfect.

the 3.25's are much longer than stock. u will likely need to trim them down to run a closed end lug nut.

So if I run 3/4" spacers, should I just get the 3.25" studs and cut them down to size?

Because I can't find any 3/4" adapters.

Because GM installed a too narrow rear axle in these cars. My last set of rims were the TTII with the 9.5" wide front and 11" wide rear rim which automatically pushes the rear tire further out so that the offsets match. Now I'm running the same size rim front and rear (10" wide) and the rear rims are tucked in too far. So I need to push the rear rims out to get them lined up with the front rims to make it look right once again.

Here is a pic:

Here is an older pic. Notice how the rim offset is perfect when looking down the side.

That was one of the reasons I went with the 9.5" and 11" combo. I decided on day one of getting these new rims that I would get some 3/4" adapters to get the proper look back, but the company selling them stopped making them. So now I'm going to get some spacers and longer studs. If I have to, I'll get some custom adapters made for me, but they can be very expensive.
