Default Just Gotta' ask!

With the Strange Pro Race steel front brake kit, will most lightweight 15" drag wheels fit without grinding the calipers as you have the do with the stock calipers? Would someone with experience please comment? Since the calipers supposedly are smaller, wouldn't this negate the need for grinding?

This is the kit:

Very nice brakes.

With these brakes, any 15" wheel will fit easily.

I can build you a front runner that will be ~6.75lbs for it! You'll also need new caliper hoses.

We have a braided brake-line kit for those brakes as well. If you need assistance with the brakes as well...I be happy to assist you.

The brakes and misc. pieces you'd need are listed on our website located at http://www.sjmmanufacturing.com/cam_brk_ls1.html . Since you're ABS will be deactivated, I'd highly recommend also our ABS delete kit which includes a necessary adjustable proportioning valve to bias your brakes since ABS will no longer function.

Since our Bogart wheels are built to spec, due to the simple design, less material and work needed to the wheels...they are lighter and less expensive then our typical LS1 designed wheel.

I doubt it, but are those brakes streetable at all? With them being smaller than stock I could see braking performance would suffer some as well. But with them being lighter I could also see it helping so I dunno..

True, neither are any drag wheels.

Mine being a DD mostly for street usage, I guess I should look at a different brake setup. My drive to work is only 2 miles ... would it be THAT bad to put Strange Pro Race front and rear kits on the car? How fast do the rotors wear down? Any recommendations on a brake setup that would be better, yet still provide a good weight savings? I was looking at Wilwood's.

I was thinking the Bear Eridispeed Plus Front & Rear Kits for front weight savings, but, I don't much like the dimples ... wish they just made slotted ones rotors in that two-piece design.

If the car is daily driven...drag brakes and drag wheels are not a good idea. The drag brakes themselves stop VERY well...they do not dissipate the heat like your stock rotors will…that is the biggest difference.

15” wheels themselves will give the car a much worse feel for normal driving…using them by themselves would be a degradation to handling and performance. The large sidewall makes handling terrible in comparison to a stock setup.
