At least you don't have yellow pollen collecting on your red car. My Z looked like a McDonald's advertisement until the downpour yesterday where I live. Nice chart! I'm also glad to know any color wheel will work on my car. Though I'm probably going to go black or gunmetal. No chrome cause I am too lazy to maintain chrome lol

WTF ? I think you mean polished aluminum wheels cause chrome just washes clean with a minimum of effort. But bright silver is almost as easy & looks great on just about any color vehicle .

Don't you have to keep after chrome to keep them clean and waxed?

My car came with chrome wheels, I haven't touched them since I got the car and they're all pitted and nasty looking. The wheels are ugly so I really don't care. But isn't the pitting, etc. due to lack of care?

So you consider your Viper dark blue? I'm only asking because you have white wheels on it and on your list it says white wheels on dark blue, not light blue but IMO I wouldn't say you have a dark blue Viper, what color do you say?

I was thinking the same thing about his viper. I beleive that the white stripes add a extra twist therefore it all works. I cant beleive no one else noticed this same thing.

Either way its a great list and great car.

Do you really need to ask what wheels look good based on car color alone? I thought this stuff was simple, just plain 'ol hotrod common sense. Read enough performance car magazines and you tend to figure out what works and doesn't work when it comes to vehicle color vs wheel finishes.

I've put together a little chart for the wheel colorblind. Maybe this will help you get going in the right direction when selecting a wheel finish. Here are my 'safe' recommendations on wheel finishes for your color of vehicle. On rare occasions, venturing outside of the recommendations may work, but most of the time there are better choices to be made. For example, you may feel that your black wheels on a navy blue car look great, but I guarantee one of the other finishes would look even better to the rest of the automotive world. Do you ever wear navy blue dress pants with a black dress shirt? If so, see "taste gene is broken" statement above.

Good news if you own a red, black, or white vehicle. EVERY finish tends to look good on those colors. Your job of picking a wheel finish just got easy.

Now, as for wheel styling, you are pretty much on your own in that regard. Everyone has different taste, so selecting the "perfect" wheel will vary with every person you ask.
I was thinking about that... You hardly wear Navy Blue dress pants with ANY shirt HOWEVER you would wear Black dress pants with Navy Blue shirt (which seems more appropriate, top to bottom comparison of black wheels on a blue car)...

Cool

I think the chart will work good as a starting point for someone that's totally oblivious to what wheel color they think they would like on their car.
Or for someone that's more concerned with conforming to societies norms, and in what other people think looks good.

Hey Tony,

How the heck do I get in touch with you? I wanted to ask some info about wheels for one of my Dads cars. Can you shoot me an email at niphilli@vt.edu?
