Pros of 15":
-WAY more tire selection than for 16" when it comes to drag tires. This will be important for when you need to upgrade to a real drag slick. 16" wheels do not have many options at all.
-Less weight than a 16" wheel
Pros for a 16" wheel:
-You can keep the stock wheel look

Would using 16 inch E.T. streets opposed to 15 inch E.T. streets help preverve the 10 bolt?? this is something i have been wondering for a couple months. Would a slick tire with less sidewall preserve the 10 bolt longer than a slick tire with more sidewall?? (i.e. 16" wheels Vs. 15" wheels)

Not really.
A 16" ET Street can hook almost as good as a 15" ET Street.
Here's a 1.57 60 ft for me in 2000 with 16x9 Draglite XP's and 26x11.5x16 ET Streets:

There are more selections now for 16" rims you just have to look at how hardcore you plan to be. ET Streets even come in 28x11.5x16 sizes now.
