Default Wanted: Pics of Camaros with 17x11 and 315s (Lowered!)

I'm considering getting some 17x11s and 315s for my 02 SS, but I don't want the tires all sticking out ghetto-like. Show me some photos of your lowered Camaros with 17x11s and 315s.

Thanks
Tony

Here are various shots of my vert with 315s.

As you can see, they are very close to ghetto and kind of changed the personality of the car. I changed to 285s on the 11's and like the look much better.

To be fair, some 315s are not as wide as the KDs, and so the fit is better.

what's the offset on your 17x11's??? I'm looking into doing this and the 50mm offset is what everybody is telling me

That is mainly due the the major offset of your wheels, other 17 x 11's don't stick out nearly as much as those. The TT2's are a little too aggressive with their offsets IMO.

The offset on the TT IIs is 45mm (about 3/16 less than the recommended 50) and the tires were already rubbing the inner fender well so there wasn't any place to go. It's not so much the rims, but the KDs. I have seen other 315s on TT IIs that don't stick out so much. With the 285s the look is just right.

Hey tony I have a friend that lives right around the corner from me with a 35LE with a set of 18x10 TTII's on it. You might like the look of it. I will try and get pictures of it for you when I get a chance.

DaddySS, yep, that first pic is ghetto for me. I don't like tires to stick out at all unless its a lifted truck

HondaKiller, I saw a set of 315 Nitto drag radials on some Fikse 11s and they tucked under perfectly on a Camaro SS. The guy posts as "Strini SS", look for a post in this forum on his car.

Stang Killer, some photos would be great of the entire car. I'm sick of TT2 wheels, but can still appreciate their style. I'm just concerned with the fit of them for now.

6-speedZ, must be some bad angles on those photos, because it does look like the tread is sticking out in those two photos. EbbsnFlows, what offset are your wheels, what type of tires, and what kind of lowering springs? That silver Z looks clean and nice!

Tony and Alex...thanks for the compliments. I prefer the "clean and simple" look.
Tony...The offsets for the rears are +50mm w/ 7.93" backspace (AFSWheels.com sells these)

I'm not using lowering springs (technically). My rear suspension consists of V6 springs (with the rubber isolator removed...and rubber hose around the top coil) along with Competition Engineering Adjustable shocks. This gave me just a smidge more than a 3/4" drop in the back. The fronts are Hal 12-ways w/ Hal Drag springs. I've ran numerous lowered-suspension setups on various cars over the years, and this is BY far the best. It offers a nice stance (with decent clearance for headers), it rides beautifully on the street (even on the brutal DC roads), and performs terrific at the track. I honestly couldn't be happier with it.

Tony, I think the reason it looks to be sticking out is because the car was lowered and I havent gotten around to re centering the rear end. The driver side actually sticks out farther than the passenger side does, I will try and get some good pics from behind today for you.

Tony - the combo you request, 315's, 17" x 11" and lowered IMHO does not work (without issues).

Something WILL rub, stick out and look "ghetto"

Mark is running 17" x 11" 50mm offset ZR1's with 315 BFG gForce TAs and the SLP Eibach/Bilstien suspension. The tires do stick out, they rubbed the inner wheel well, and they make contact with the outer wheel well.

So, honestly they'll require the inner wheel be modded, they'll require rolling the quarter panel lip (or cut up the outer edge of the tire)

Just my personal experience. I like my 10.5" with 295's, granted they are 18" wheels. Perfect size IMHO.

Here it is with the 285s on 11" rears. Doesn't stick out at all and fills the well just right.
