Default Just ordered new wheels

***UPDATE: WHEELS ARE ON....PICS STARTING ON POST #29***

well, i finally got around to having the money to get some new wheels for my ride, with my income tax return. they should be here in about 2 - 3 weeks. it's taking a little longer since they are making them custom, but i think it will be well worth the wait.

Centerline Sundance Series Daggers
17" x 9.5" x +41mm offset (7" backspace)

i've been drooling over these wheels for a long time, and now they'll finally be mine.....and i've yet to see another 4th-gen camaro with these wheels, so it should be pretty unique. i'm sure they exist, but i have not seen them.

gonna wrap them in some Goodyear GS-D3's

I think they will look good if the car is lowered enough.

oh yeah....that's not even an issue, i'm putting them on, regardless....they're already ordered......and just like you said, if anyone else has a problem with it, that's their problem, not mine.

just wanna see if i can get a photoshop preview beforehand, so i can see what it will look like....i have a mental picture in my head, but it still sometimes helps to see it "on paper", per se.

here's a rough photochop of the car with the new wheels on it, surely someone can do a little better, but this was thrown together in about 10 minutes with my limited knowledge of P-Shop....i think the front looks better than the back, but it's enough to give you a general idea of what it will look like, i think.

well, just got a confirmation email tonight that the wheels shipped out, and they should be here friday.

assuming there is no damage in shipping (they were shipped UPS, so i'm very leery about shipping damage), i should have them on this weekend, along with my new GS-D3's......will post up pics as soon as possible afterwards.

well, i got my wheels, and they look freakin awesome as hell......excellent workmanship, etc....but there's only one slight problem...

they don't fit.

according to the wheel/tire sticky post, a 9.5" wheel will work with an offset of +38mm to +56mm. when i ordered the wheels, they said the closest they could do within that range would be a 7" backspace, which is the equivalent to a +41mm offset. this fell within that range, so i said "ok, let's do it".

well, when i get the wheels, they bolt up and everything, but they stick out of the wheel wells by about 1.75" - 2" in the front, and 1" - 1.25" in the rear. when the front wheels are turned, they stick out so far that the tires contact the fender well.

the worst part about it is that these are custom-made two-piece wheels, so they don't accept returns on them. i called them back and they said they are going to check with the boss man and find out what they can do for me....just waiting on the return call now.

Something doesn't sound right... Previously, I had a set of the really early design CCWs on my Z-28. They were 16x9.5, with a 6.75" backspacing. They worked just fine. Recently, I decided to step up to 17" wheels. I bought a set of Intro 5 Stars, 17x9.5, with a 7.125" backspacing. I haven't gotten tires yet, however I test fitted the wheels, and they're within the fenderwells.

If your Centerlines stick OUT of the fenders as much as you say, there's NO WAY the backspacing is only 1/8" less than my Intros. Have you actually measured the b'spacing on your Centerlines? It appears that they made a mistake.....

well, an update and some good news. leadfoot, you were exactly right, Centerline did make a mistake.

Centerline called me back today, and it turns out they wrote down the wrong part# on my order, so instead of a 7" backspace, they gave me a 5" backspace instead.....which is right around the amount that i estimated that it stuck out too far.

so anyway, they're going to arrange for the wheels to be shipped back and correct the backspacing for me!

i'm so happy now, not only because they're going to correct the mistake, but because i've been lusting over these wheels for a long time, and until now, i didn't think it was in the cards for me to have them on my car.

kudos to Centerline for recognizing the mistake and making it right, that's what customer service should be like everywhere!
