The "chicane tool" has a indentation of your your fender designed into it. On the head of the tool there's a section that's cut at a 45 degree angle specifically in order to prevent from you from "overrolling" and screwing up your fender.
Your fender will at first look like this from inside:

When you finish using the Chicane Tool, your fender will look like this:

However, you're not done yet, use a rubber hammer or a metal flat hammer (just be careful) and gently tap the part that sticks out at 60 degree angle so that you make a 90 degree angle. It should like like this when you're done:
