Default question about stripping wheels

I have a set of painted y2k rims. I am reading up and saw a few threads about stripping wheels down and then polishing the aluminum. is it possible to do that with my wheels? and how hard is it to do this.

It can be done but it is a pain in the ***. You are probably better off selling them and just buying some that are the factory polish.

you can try using oven easy cleaner.

just spray it on a let it sit for like 10-15 minutes.

wipe it off some gloves and a rag

it takes the clear right off.

try it and find out. I used the Aircraft stripper you can get at any auto parts store.
The SS 10 spokes are machined on the surface, but still cast finish somewhat on the inside of the spokes. It is a challenge to get them smooth and flat.
I did a pair to replicate the 35th wheels for my race tires. It tool several applications of stripper.

To much time... I would just throw them into a glass bead cabnet, itll take the finish right off.. (if your just going to paint them)
