how long will they last I'm looking for some new tires for my 17x9 SS rims. The car is mostly a daily driver. I'm looking form something at a good price but solid traction. I'd rather pay a little more and get quality. I am leaning to the Kuhmo MX or 712, but still considering Nitto 555's. I'm looking right now at around 130 each installed with road hazard for the Kuhmo 712's or around 180 each installed with road hazard for the Nittos.
I'm looking to hear any opinions on these tires (or others), but also looking to see how long they're lasting. 10k miles, 20k miles? I don't do much racing, but do like enjoy a few hard launches here and there. I don't want to be cheap and get Kuhmos if they're only going to last half as long and going to spin w/my 3.73's and would like solid 60 fts if I do ever go to the drag strip. Also, what do you think about the prices? Any responses are appreciated. Thanks.

Re: how long will they last I have Kuhmo 712's on my daily driver a 91 RS Camaro. Tires have 14,xxx miles on them and I expect to get at least 30,000 out of them based on how they are wearing. They are excellent in the rain, pretty much suck in the snow. As for good 60 ft's, I don't know how they are BUT my lame 305 TBI RS with 132rwhp & 220rwtq can break a 712 loose from an abrupt start. The RS never could break a GA, Potenza, or Firehawk loose in a straight line - ever. Rolling into it seems to help. The RS doesn't go to the strip because with 252,000+ miles on the orginal engine and tranny it's just not up to it anymore.

Got my 712's fr $445 installed at Discount Tire a while back $130 a tire or $520 seems a little high.

Re: how long will they last I say Nitto's are the way! I have put a good 10,000 on mine and those are pretty hard 10,000 miles. Just figure trying to launch on nitrous with the vig 3600 on the street. I would also say they are the BEST hooking tire you can buy when it comes to street traction. I didn't get but about 6-7000 miles out of the stock gsc's that came on my car(front and rear) so I think the nittos have done very well! They don't hook so good on the track but on the street my et streets don't hook as good!

Re: how long will they last I had kumhos, the 712 put about 10,000 miles on them and they started cupping. I rotated them constantly and balanced since i could do it for free at work. They dont balance well at all. The traction sucks exspecially in the rain. Now i have nittos. I love them, they all balanced on the first try and are wearing even. Actually i have about 4000 miles on them and cant notice any wear.

Re: how long will they last 99 Black Bird....I'm just down the street in Mount Holly. I actually got my quote from Discount Tire Direct over near the Home Depot in Franklin Square. If I go with Kuhmos, I'll have to work on the price a little more!
