Default How do you clean your wheels?

I have black ZR1's and there is nothing better looking than when they are clean...Im curious what products you all are using to clean your wheels? I am going to be removing them and cleaning the entire wheel and want something that will not harm the finish but remove the brake debris.

I believe they are painted so you would clean/care for them just like paint. You can clean them with a degreaser, then use a claybar and polish them/seal them to make them easier to clean in the future.

Wheel brightener is pretty acidic stuff. Only use that when the less aggressive methods fail.

Does anyone know a good method for powdercoated + cleared wheels? Or are they the same?

i use meguires spray wheel cleaner, scrub with a wash mit, then rinse off. works incredible and i use it on the silverado chrome wheels, the silver finish zr1s on the vette, etc. you just have to be absolutely sure you dont let it dry onto the wheels.

During a normal cleaning all I ever use is a sponge with soap(for automotive finish) and water and then rinse. If they are really nasty the harshest thing I'll ever use in diluted Simple Green in a spray bottle followed up with the previous method.

I just put some car wash soap in a spray bottle with water. I then spray the wheels and wipe them dry with a microfiber

An aluminum/mag wheel spray cleaner will work very well, just don't let it dry on the wheels. Soap and water will work fine, you and dimitri should also use a sealer after you clean them well. Then you'll only need to soap/water and rinse them (they will be much easier to clean in the future). I suggest a product called Rejex. Also the best wax IMO to use on your paint.

yep it is.. i normally cut it 50 50 with water but for really bad wheel you need 100%. but on a car your taking care of your self i see no need for it. as I said before soap and water should take care of it.

Soap, water, wash mitt. Sometimes Simple Green if they haven't been washed in a while
