What you said about the GTA wheels being labeled "back" and "front" same goes for this one. The lug nuts sit in alot deeper on the front ones than on the back ones. So I figured I'de need 2 inch for the front and less for the rear??? Does that make sense? But if they are out far enough and don't need spacers then I am set and I can go with the 4th gens. Like I said, no since in getting the 4th gen wheels if I need spacers in the back. Thanks for your help. Oh yeah, this wheel pic I put up earlier...it says rear at the top of the center.
this is what i thought. it sounds like normal 3rd gen backspacing to me. if it is the case, you would not NEED a full 2in spacer in back but i think you would want one. a 2in spacer in the rear with 4th gen wheels would look the same as a 3rd gen front wheel on the back, a very common thing on gtas.

throw a front wheel on the back of your car and see how much better it fills the fenders. (the rear wheel on the front will rub so dont drve it)

But thanks for the advice, I'll do that. Thats an old pic. The car has come along more than that so maybe it won't be that long...MAYBE

I think 17s are the best look for third gens anyway.

from what it sounds like if you can run the stock iroc 16" wheels then you should have typical backspacing of a third gen. it would be silly for GM to mass produce two sets of rims for that year. I do know however that the iroc wheels were not rotatable. each had a specific side and position. example: left front, left rear, etc.

Here's my 1988 IROC. Ordered it mid 87, the first day you could order an 88. In 87 they had a limited run of 350 cars so I wanted to make sure I got one, but in 88 they made as many as people wanted. Mine has the 9 bolt also and about every option offered.

Has 23,000 miles on it now. I've had Pro Stars on it for 19 years, 15x5 3.5 back space in front and 15x8 5.5 backspace in rear. Every time I decide to change to some other wheel I can never make up my mind.

those 18's on the white one are modeled after the IROC rims that came on 85-87 IROCs I don't like those rims. They would make my car look like a fack. Now if they made 88-90 chrome IROC rims in 17s HELL YEAH!!!

. . . why don't you just keep the stock rims and put them back on when you feel the need to sell it so it's more original?
