Which is better- 255-50-16 or 275/40/17 M/T ET radial?

Default Which is better- 255-50-16 or 275/40/17 M/T ET radial?

Wondering what the consensus is on width of tire vs having a taller sidewall. My car is a 410 plus rwhp, doubt I ever see a whole lot more. I was thinking of getting two more matching chrome 16's. I've seen some sick fast cars on those 17's as well. I would only be leaving around 3000r's as I'm still pimpin a 10 bolt with 4.10's.

I always advise going with a taller sidewall for maximum traction. Bob

That is what I thought, I just have seen some fast cars on 275/40/17's. I wasn't sure if the width helped as much at the softer sidewall. Thanks.

I would definitely go with the taller sidewall of the 255 50 R16s especially if you are an M6...
