the factory amp location on that model/year is behind the passenger side rear interior trim panel, right side rear seat = below the b-pillar speaker. Two harnesses behind the radio. The main power/speaker harness supplies the power and signal to the speakers in the doors and the 4 speakers in the the hatch cargo area (4" mid-range and a 1" tweeter). You can get that harness ANYWHERE, or you might try Circuit City and see if they've got the specialty harness that the corvette's used. It powers up and sends signal to the 6 1/2" mid-bass drivers too! Ask them for that harness (METRA# 70-2004) unless they've changed the model number again, that should be the right number for ya. That'll allow you to not have to bypass the amp. As far as plug-&-play, Circuit City also carries the speaker harness adapters as well. (# DW-4568-SH or 72-4568)
Hope this helps.

Just like the Monsoon, you don't need any special parts to replace the head unit. A mounting kit, antenna adapter, and the standard 88-up GM wiring harness adapter are all you need. All of these are available at any audio shop, auto parts store, or even Wal-Mart.
The only "gotcha" with the speakers is that the sail panel subs get only low filtered signal from the amp so you can't use full-range or coaxial speakers there. Other than that, you can use any 6.5" component speakers you like for the doors and (if you really have to) you can replace the hatch speakers with any 4" mids you like (no point in replacing the hatch tweeters unless they're fried - which they seldom are).
But, Legendarysouls, as far as what's in my car:

and as you can guess from my sig...my wiring isn't the little dinky kit you're gonna find at wally-world; competition series RCAs for signal transfer, 4awg power kit:'( [which is awaiting for my 0AWG kite to arrive]
