I just bought a kenwood excelon x792 and love it. Its ipod controls are great and it was like 200 shipped. I think the x692 i basically the same thing but with less extras and it cost less. If your going to add just some coaxial's and maybe a sub you dont need anything too spectacular id suggest the alpine 9884 or the kenwood x692. Prob the best headunit you can get now is the alpine 9886, you can control just about anything your stereo offers.

i was using infinity 62.7i's for the front door. They were a perfect fit and sounded good for a coaxial. I just bought the digital designs ddc6.5 component set yesterday.

Don't know how much you're looking to spend, but if you're on a budget, check out the Pioneer DEH-P3000IB on crutchfield. It comes with the free iPod cable, dash kit, wiring harness, antenna adapter, shipping, and 24/7 phone support for that price. Figure all the parts into your price when you're shopping around. That type of iPod connection will keep your iPod charged, transfer all data to the Pioneer screen, and allow you to change songs from the headunit. (All unlike a cheap "AUX" input that many people use)
If you have a little more money and don't use CDs anymore, Alpine make several units that are strictly for the iPod. (No CD player) They are AWESOME. Large high-res screen with album art etc. Probably around $350. If I was in the market for a single-din headunit, I'd give them a SERIOUS look.
