Default Best Radar Detectors

Probably has been polled before, but I've only had experience with the V1. I loved it, thinking about buying another one with the conceal kit. Anyone else have good things to say about it?

I've read that the escort 9500 has been beating out the V1. I have the 8500 and I really like it. If the 9500 is a huge upgrade over the 8500 I would imagine it has to be good.

The slight loss that the V1 takes under the Escorts is worth the arrows.

When you are picking up Ka at a mile and a half from the source, it was nice to know which way it is coming from... in Louisiana... at 3 am...

It's also nice to know when the threat is on the other side of the road and just passed you.

+1 for V1. Best radar on the market. Once you see one in action, you will be sold. Plus, every V1 is available for future upgrades, so you never have outdated software.

5 years with V1...0 Speeding tickets.

I've had my V1 for 6 years in both of my cars... and also have 0 tickets. Its picks up the signal well in advance. So early that I can travel 2-3 miles down the road before I even know where the cop is and If I missed him, the arrows tell me where he was.... IMHO, its the best!

I completely agree. I was on the highway once and it picked up a cop from at least a mile and a half away...and pointed in the direction it was. The arrows really do help out a lot and the range on that thing is just rediculous. I guess it made me too confident though... because I got two tickets with it before it was stolen along with the rest of my audio system... *sigh* One time I was going over a big hill and it didn't go off until I was at the top and the cop was sitting at the bottom with his radar on. Then the other time I was on the highway when a cop came up behind me on an on ramp that was beside me. He didn't have his radar on so my V1 never went off, until it was too late.

I would buy another one in a heartbeat though if I had the money. Oh and a tip for anyone who has the V1... Take it down every single time you park your car. It may seem a little rediculous but it's worth not having a $300 radar detector stolen.

I've had my 8500 x50 for about 3 years. I bought mine 2nd hand though, so I'm not sure if any of the hardware has been affected because of abuse or misuse by the previous owner, so take this post for what its worth...

I'm considering switching to a V1. Its ugly as ****, but those arrows are a good tool, and, unfortunately for us Escort users, patent protected.

Default Escort 9500ix

I love mine, it tells me where the red light cameras are and remembers false alarms and cancels them. Its awesome. If it goes off theres a reason. I was surprised with how many redlight cameras there are in Orlando area.

Definately like the Passport 9500 ix the best. The learning feature cuts down on the false alarms. I never get falses around town anymore. It also has excellent range and picks up the cameras. Well worth the price.

My friends got the v1. He gets so many false alerts its almost constant and it remains off alot. Then one time on a trip when I wanted to see how it worked it went off and it was actually real but of course he ignored it because he thought it was the shopping center setting it off and got a big ticket. My 9500IX works wonderfully and when it alerts me I know its serious. The GPS technology is so much better than the V1 with autolearn to lock out false alerts and of course adjusts its sensitivity by how fast your going.

I've currently got mine mounted on my visor, but that makes the visor useless. It's possible to use the visor clip to slide inside the headliner above the rear-view mirror. I've already trial-fitted for it, but I have to extend the wiring first. It's something I'm going to look into this spring.
