Also can I make some of those kenwoods work with my steering wheel controls?
If you are referring to the the Kenwood units I posted, then yes to all your questions. For steering wheel controls, you'd need an adapter.... just like any other aftermarket headunits. That topic is covered elsewhere. I don't remember if MP3 is built-in or if you need an adapter.

Jeepers, what did you use for the black side pieces behind the bezel and to the left and right of the headunit? I just installed my Pioneer F700 and had to custom make L-brackets...I don't have anything to cover them up so it still looks sloppy.

I hacked up the frame surround piece from a late model Metra GM double din install kit. I cut the sides off of it and just put them in place, then the bezel holds them in. I posted a thread not too long ago on how I did it, I think its called "how about this for a double din install" or something like that.

I don't have my player indash but i do have a 7 inch screen mounted in the dash with the player in the glove box. It plays dvd's,cd's,mp3's, and I load pictures of family, cars, girls on cd's and it plays those at the same time my radio is playing. I don't have much money into it now but i am satisfied for the moment. I would like to have something like InfiniteReality's set up with the carputer in the future.
First pic is of the screen in the dash and the second is just a screen shot with my little girl on it. It was my first attempt at anything like this except for a regular headunit.

Here's his install (btw the frame around the radio/ac controls is the "bezel")

Carputer Forum

Not only can a carputer use an antenna for fm/xm/hd, it can do anything any radio can do plus more, depending on what you buy for it. Hell, gps software is free and an antenna is $35. Im installing one in may when i get back from college.

The headunit has all the functions included. Radio, dvd, cd, etc. To make it even better for me, it was one that my brother gave me for free.

Since back in the days, I've loved flip-outs, but as car makers move away from single-din players into larger, more custom units, the stereo industry has responded by moving toward double-dins as well. I love the look of a double din and about to do a mod on mine. Plus, you don't want heat blasting at the back of the screen on a flip out if it's your DD
