I chopped my stock one on half. Couldn't get the ball off to put back so I dipped the end of the antenna in some enamel paint to cover the scratch marks. Came out fine, looks much better IMO.

My dad thinks I was nuts cutting it - "makes your radio not work so well" - but I hardly use the radio and reception didn't noticeably change anyway.

I bought the stubby antenna for my car from Afterthoughts Auto but it didn't fit my LT1 (put it on my silverado).
My 93 has a thicker dia. threaded mast. Anybody have the same problem, find one that fits?
I know Bitviper's is wound in the base to keep reception, which is what I would want, but I don't think he makes two diameters. The one my truck inherited lost reception!

BitVipers are terrible man, my friend used to have one and all of us laughed at his bitviper because it looked like a limp d*ck. Its way to thick and attracts to much attention to the antenna, when all you want is stock looking subtle one. My buddy immediately agreed with our point of view, took it off then he cut down his old one.
Ouch...another limp dick comarison....Im startging to get a complex!

Yah, & his location says it all.

I got my BitViper last week & communicated to BitViper that it would be installed on my LSX Miata (me understanding that a retrofit would be required). BitViper's communication was excellent & shipping fast. It installed easier than I thought. Just a little base tweaking (since it's a GM design) & she fit & looks great. Did not lose a bit of reception either. Thanks BitViper.

I got mine from Eckler's Corvette (probably 90% of new GM antennas are interchangeable) but cutting the stocker and adding a vacuum cap would probably save $25.

I made mine..cut it down to about 10"..mamaged to get the ball off of it and just Dremeled it down to where the Ball fit back on tight.

Personally I don't like the stock one.. it makes it look like a fckn RC Car..lol

I bought a 12" shorty off Ebay about 2 yrs ago, no reception difference as far as I could tell and it definitely looks better than stock, nice cheap upgrade too

I love the look of my BitViper antenna, and the thing was cheap. Can't remember what, but it was not a lot fo cash.
