That's extra weight when I race the car. Just need stock replacements. I may go with the Kee Audio set now. Still haven't made up my mind. Good info in here.

Like I said looking for the same quality of sound I had when the car was new. I really don't want to replace speakers as often as Window motors & sun visors.

Gotta love GM quality.

Exactly dave, if youre gonna do it, do it right the first time so you arent doing it again in a year or so. And as far as race weight goes, I would imagaine my whole set up weighs close to 15 lbs or less, including amp and all. Thats not much difference and gives me an incentive to lose those 15lbs on myself.

I have Ian Kee's CDTs in my convertible, using the stock amp. They are a bit heavier than the flimsy stockers, though not excessively heavy. The sound is a difference like night and day and well worth the small difference in vehicle weight.

I know, I'll spend a half hour taking out the rear seatbelst because they weigh 10lbs before a race when I'm 20lbs over weight. I should just lay off the McDonnalds.

That's the thing I don't want to do it twice like the sun visors or window motors.

I'll probably give Kee a call.

as far as weight stockers are very heavy speakers, for stock at least. my polks weren't much heavier, if at all.

I was not concerned about the weight of the speakers. SOMcockySS was talking about subs & a whole system, that's when I mentioned weight.

Did mobile audio/video for a living for many years. GM speakers=crap , paper cone , crappy surrounds and I wouldn't give ya 5.00 for 'em . Get the Kee setup , Clif Designs is a very good company .....

davered00ss, what did you end up doing? If you went aftermarket, how does the sound compare to before?

i did like everybody else.. got the kee audio stuff, cut the stock plugs off the stock speakers, wired them up to the replacements...

Only thing i've noticed is now my front driver's side speaker isnt working. tweeter is, but the speaker itsself isnt. doesn't sound blown or anything, i assume its something with wiring.
I've just been too lazy to remove the door panel..

Check the wiring and let me know if you have any issues. CDT is VERY good about replacing anything that is wrong. I had a customer who had a bad tweeter a little while ago and he had a new tweeter from CDT in 3 days.
1 year factory warranty off the bat and offer an additional 10 year warranty that can be purchased for a small fee through them.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, and I have nothing against Ian, but none of what you just said is true. He's a good guy and he carries good products, but he does not carry the best products, nor are his prices unbeatable.

Liking the guy and his company is fine, but don't go overboard and into complete BS like you just did.

Hi, sorry I didn't get your email. The webserver I currently have sucks and their email server is even worse. I haven't been getting my emails through that account so I've had to go back to my old email account. keeaudio@bellsouth.net
They go through ok but they don't end up getting to me. It has been a huge problem.
Anyway, I have 6.5" TS-V6 DVC subs in stock and will be getting more 6.5" Bazooka DVC subs in at the end of the month.
Both would do well with the stock system.
