Only the pioneer DEH-P800PRS competes with it, but the newest Eclipse, CD5030, and alpine cda-9886 look to be other good options

watch out for the multi directional volume *****,
they are impossible to use while driving

I use to have the lower line of this cd player DEH-P980BT, the non premier DEH-7800mp, and the multi directional **** with few buttons was horrible. And the screen was terrible during the day.
This is correct. I would look around for an 880PRS as well. The only problem with the Alpine 9887 is you have to use the imprint software to tune it correctly. You cant go wrong with any of these decks.

I think the 880PRS was actually replaced by the 800PRS. The 880 is silver while the 800 is black. Also 9887 has many tuning options without using the imprint. Imprint is just able to fine tune even tighter.

You can still buy the 880 its actually a couple hundred cheaper and features are comparable. The imprint software really only needs to be used once and some vendors allow you to send back with a rental fee.
