Weird Problem

Weird Problem Ok so I have all aftermarket speakers in my car and an aftermarket headunit as well as 2 subs and an amp in my car. Well recently it seems that when i turn my radio up past a certain point...lets say 15..it shuts off, but anything under that is fine.....but when i get to 14 and 15 adn 16 it shuts off. What is going on?

Def not a blown speaker, all the speakers are brand new. The amp is 800w and its connected to the battery. It has never done this before, it used to only cut off if it had been on very loud for a while then it would shut off. Now if I turn it up past 14 it shuts off then turns back on and etc..

I had an issue last night with mine doing the same thing... but I have not gotten it to do it again. Ive heard people say a bad ground to the head unit.
I have Powerbass 3XL-60C speakers (4 woofers/4 tweeters) 2 L-4002 powerbass co axials in the trunk and a S-10 10" powerbass sub powered by a kicker 400.1 amp. I had the volume at about 20 and the head unit like rebooted it self... it was so damn odd. but i cant seem to get it to do it again. my headunit is an Alpine CDA-9847 btw

Im pretty sure mine is good too. if it does it again im going to double check. It might be because my speakers are not ampd... but that issue never came up till last night when i installed the sub *shrug*.

Verdad Gallardo A blown speaker, or pinched speaker wire, can cause te radio to shut off via a "protection" mode. it may not be ur problem byt in the past 6 years as a car audio installer for a proffession, not just fun, its very common cause of a radio shutting off at volume.

It shouldnt be i have the amp at like half power, its a 500watt amp powering a ~250 RMS sub lol
