Default installing autometer 5340 shift light???

I just want to make sure that I understand everything before I start the install. Car is a 2001 BTW. I have attached a picture of which light I have.

From what I've read I am running a wire from the #10 pin white wire on the PCM to green wire on the shift light. The red wire on the shift light needs to be connected to a switched 12V accessory wire and the black is the ground wire.

Am i understanding this correctly. If anybody has installed this light please chime in. I am not a electrical guy so this is very foreign to me.

Thanks for all the help.

the only thing is I dont know where you would get the tach signal from in a late model camaro.... do you have a aftermarket tach? Ide call autometer and I think they would have your answer if you get the right guy. Or even call MSD becuase they do a lot of tach adapters so they might have some more info for ya.

You are correct.

The PCM has two harnessess connected to it.

You are going to be using the lower one....the one closest to the wheel-well.

Use one of the wire tap pinch connectors....this way you won't have to slice the wires.

You may have to remove a tiny bit of the wire insulation on the white #10 wire....sometimes the wire tap pinch connectors have trouble getting through the insulation.

NOTE: use the correct size wire tap pinch connector....to small and you will cut the wire in half !

Put a little dielectric grease in the new connector....this will protect the connections from the weather.

NOTE: for running the wire to the inside of the car.

Remove the two wiring harness connectors from the PCM.

The PCM is just snapped in place....a clip on each side of the PCM....Unsnap and pull out.

Behind and under the PCM is a rubber grommet in the firewall....punch a tiny hole in the middle of it and push the green wire through....seal with silicone if needed.

If your decide to remove the PCM....I would disconnect the battery....Make sure you unlock your radio if needed or at least know the theft code.

Sorry for the late reply.
