Acc. Power not working, and DES System? Two questions:
1) What would case the cigarette lighters in a 98 trans am quit? (I checked the fuse)

1) I would check the fuse again. Use a tester or replace it with a known good fuse - fuses can look fine even when they're blown.
2) Are you sure it's not DEI security? DEI (Directed Electronics) is a big maker of aftermarket alarm and remote starter systems such as Viper, Python, Clifford, and Hornet.

About burnt up my car today, darn wire is shorting out to the cigarette lighter, I replaced the fuse and wiggled the wire and it arched off the conductors on the cigarette lighter then started smoking, good thing I had the fuse panel removed and pulled the fuse. Ill have a little work to do on the cigarette lighter starting with running the wire and checking where its grounding itself and then cutting splicing and rewiring the wire to the cigarette lighter.
As far as the DEI System is there a way to get a key fob to reactivate the alarm and remote start?
