Adam I know about the subthump ttop box. I like it even though its a pretty penny. I wouldnt mind spending the money on it but even though Id still be able to store my ttops that would be the extent of anything in the back. I'm gona have to go and check out subthump its been awhile.

well ya depends on how much space you are willing to give up and what else you need the hatch area to store

You need to come up with a compromise. It takes box space to make bass. A ported enclosure requires more room than a sealed enclosure, but the gain you will gewt is tremendous and would definately pay off. I would call subthump and see if they can make you a ported t-top box for 1 sub. Even the MTX you have now will sound really nice in a proper enclosure. The output will be twice the stealth box, if not more, and you keep your storage.

They have sealed t-top boxes for 2 10s and 2 12s. Just ask them if they will make you one for 1 sub ported. Im sure they can do it.

call and ask but i thought i read he wasnt making ported enclosures anymore. That not withstanding, it would be the same basic design externally just imagine a hole cut for 1 sub and a port instead of a dual sub setup. If he wont do it, check out soundsolutionsaudio.com and scroll down to Fisher customs and he will for sure be able to do what you want. I know the dual 10 subthump box is 2.2 cu ft, not sure how much more you can get out of that space. Id look for a 12 (not sure you will find a 15) that will work well in a ported enclosure aound that size and go for it. Sundown Audio Nightshade 12 , Fi audio BTL 12, Incriminator Audio, SSA Dcon Icon or Xcon etc the list goes on. Check em out and see what will will work. Do some shopping around before making youre decision, the homework will pay off greatly in the end.

After port displacement and driver displacement, 2.2 cu ft is going to be a really small ported box. DO NOT get a 15. A 12 is pushing it. And a 10 should be about right. Don't waste your time with a Nightshades, Fi BTL, IA or any other high end sub like that. It would be a huge waste of money if you're not doing any competition, and the amount of power you would need to feed an amp that can push a woofer like that to its potential in the first place will cost you 2x what you had originally planned. Just stick with something mid-level. Personally, I think you would be plenty happy with an SQL sub such as an RE SE and an amp rated at 750 - 1000w rms.

No, that size would work for many 12"s, though you can't just throw whatever subwoofer in some ported box.

It will work but a lot of subs aren't going to reach their full potential. And it sure isn't going to be sufficient for a Nightshades or BTL to shine. That is why I said a 12 would be pushing it. Sure it would work, but IMO a 10 would be a better option.

I shot subthump an email as no one answered when I called. Hopefully they get back to me shortly. If they can do a box for me and I decide to go that route do you think I should upgrade my sub? I have heard the same MTX as mine hit pretty hard in a setup my cousin had in his SUV, though I am unfamiliar with what kind of box he had, just know it was 2 10' MTX.

Its all up to you and what you want man. I would just use the sub you have now, and if you decide you want more, get something better and put some more power to it. Just going from the stealthbox to the enclosure you're about to get wll be a HUGE difference. Let us know how everything turns out!!

Camaro I got another question for you. I can put 6.5 subs replacing the speakers in the back seat? Like one seen here...

Yeah you can but I would just geat a good set of components for the front with a good midbass driver. The Phoenix Gold RSd65cs components are probably the best components you can get for under $100 (87 BNIB shipped off ebay). The driver has excellent midbass and the tweeter sounds pretty nice too. They're definately not the best, but I know a lot of people that absolutely love them and can't be beat for the price.

Yes. The fronts. I wouldn't worry about the rears.

So Steve from Subthump emailed me back saying they no longer make ported boxes. He suggested getting another stealth box for the passenger side to meet what I'm trying to do.

Whitebird I got a question for you. My Sony HU is model Sony CDX-GT400. Will that work at all with steering wheel controls? Im already eyeing a few HU's on crutchfield.

Yes, that model will work with the PAC SWI-PS hardwired steering wheel adapter. It also comes with its own remote called the "rotary commander" that can be mounted someplace convenient like the console or steering column and has more functions than the steering wheel switches.
