window motor help
looks like the previous owner replaced the motor but left the screws where it mounts to the door loose. what happend is over time with the window going down to far and putting stress on the motor it has started to tear the screws through the door where it mounts. this has caused me to get 2 half inch tears in the iner door frame right where the motor mounts.
The window regulators were installed from the factory with special rivets, which are kind to the door. When one replaces these with bolts (especially ones that are too small and not tightened properly) they will tear through the door.
You may want to test your motor and see if it really "doesn't want to stop." There is a thermal resistor in the motor that cuts power when it senses resistance. This part fails often and some people then disable this very important feature - but that's probably not your case if the motor was replaces.
This thread has the best method I've seen for repairing the problem with the torn panel. If you go with a steel backer plate and epoxy it to the door, you can use bolts without worrying about future tears. https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...-included.html
ill just come up with a plat on a piece of card board and tranfer onto metal epoxy it in and should be good.
thanks again.
