Default cluster question

hello guys...i need some help here... i have 98 z28 the problem is that the RPM on my cluster is not working.. and im planing on changing it...the question is a 99-02 cluster work on my 98, i know the look the same but im not sure ..thanks

I think the temp guage is incompatible, but all else is o.k.

Are you sure its the gauge that's bad and not a sensor?

i dont know..every time i star the car it goes up all the way to 7000 rpm

98 clusters are different than the 99-02 ones.
I think the camaro ones and trans am ones will interchange just slightly different faces and the trans am ones have the red built into the overlay.

I think you have another problem. (not your gauge) Have you had any other electrical gremlins lately? Do you know how old your alternator is? How is your voltage reading?
