What all would be required besides making enough room? I could use the stock harness and amp correct?

Ya you can use the stock amp. The only thing is the original 6.5 subs are 2 voice coils. That part would be the only hard part. What I did was actually cut some plates of sheet metal and welded them inside on my car. I still had to cut the original 6.5 opening to fit the 8" and I gained about a half inch clearance over what the OP of this thread did.

Ya that is the hardest part. Mine are amped and I don't remember how exactly I wired them. I don't remember if I used the sub outs on the deck or just used the monsoon amp signal to my amp. Been a while since I did it but I do know the amp will accept preamp signals. Probably just did it the most backaswards WTF way possible. Usually how my wiring ends up.

I’m well aware this is an ancient thread - but if you still happen to be here - I was wondering how you attached the speaker to the sail panel? I see you drilled new holes, did you use sheet metal screws or did you rivet them in?

Try looking into:
Rivet nuts
Snap in nuts
Press in nuts
Clip-on nuts
Adhesive-mount nuts
or weld in if u got it.

anything of these are better then just screwing it into the sheet metal.
