Default don't adjust settings from radio w/ amp?

I've been told this before, that I should leave the head unit equalizer on "flat" with the amps, but it doesn't sound as good as if you increase the treble and bass.
is there a reason not to adjust the settings from the head unit?
my current set up is 2 10" kickers with their own amp and one 5 channel amp runs the speakers,
hopefully my question isn't confusing,

thanks

pat

Thumbs up

If you want a little more bass from you sub/s just adjust the sub level output on the head unit. Myself I always set any bass boost controls on the sub amp to the flat position. Anything besides the bass I would definitely make use of the eq/tone controls to adjust the sound to your liking!
