Radio swap
Radio swap I've been trying to find a cassette-radio for my '99 T/A but haven't found one yet. There are a bunch of Camaro ones however, so I wanted to know if I could just install the cassette-radio units from Camaro's into the T/A. If it did work, would the steering wheel controls be able to control the Camaro radio?

It's my ghetto way of putting MP3 capability into my Z and T/A. I was going to buy fancy new HU's but I can guarantee they'll get stolen 2 minutes after I put them in. Even if I could weld them into the body of the car...well, you know what stereo thieves do if they can't get your HU out, so stock is the only way to go for me. Plus, I don't want to deal with the crappy cd player that comes in the stock HU, I've been through 4 of those things already...
There is a thread around here somewhere showing how to connect a headphone jack to the monsoon (it splices between the CD reader and the amp in the deck). It will sound 100% better than one of those shitty tape player adapters.

I've seen that thread. The problem is the CD player has to work-someone correct me if I'm wrong, and my problem with the stock HU's is that the CD players keep breaking on me. If I see E20 one more time I'll drive over to AC-Delco and go postal with my paintball gun...

Sounds like this isn't your first headunit. What year is the one you have now? If its a 2000+ (preferably 2001-2002), you can use a PIE GM9 AUX to add an RCA AUX jack.
Price runs $50 - $70 depending on where you look.
It plugs in-line with the CD-Changer port on the back of the headunit. To access it, press the existing CD/AUX button on the stock headunit.
